(TAP) - The House of People's Representatives (HPR) adopted at an extraordinary plenary session on Thursday a motion condemning the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to recognise Al Quds capital of Israel and to transfer the American embassy there.

The motion was adopted by 121 votes for, 2 against and 2 abstentions.

The HPR expressed in the motion its rejection of the U.S. President's decision which represents a violation of human values, of the United Nations Charter and a direct threat to peace and security in the world.

This decision also constitutes a serious precedent and a violation of the Palestinian people’s right to create an independent State with Al-Quds as its capital, the motion adds.

The motion blames the U.S. Congress for this unilateral decision, insisting on the need for a speedy review. It also calls on the European Parliament to take a firm stand in order to deal with this unfair decision and urges the Arab Parliament to meet immediately to take a position up to the event.

The motion also calls on the African Parliament to reaffirm Africa's position of support for the Palestinian cause and rejection of the Zionist politics.

It calls on the Tunisian government to act quickly at the diplomatic level to express the position of people and government against the "biased U.S. decision" and support for the Palestinian people and its valiant struggle against the Zionist entity.
