(TAP) – A takfiri element suspected of belonging to a terrorist organisation was arrested on Sunday in Sousse.

Police investigation helped reveal a brotherhood link between the suspect and a takfiri element that joined Daech terrorist organisation in Syria since 2012, the Interior Ministry said.

The suspect confessed to posting pictures of terrorist members on Facebook and articles glorifying Daech. He was held into custody after consultation with the Public prosecutor.

The ministry further said that a smuggler of archaeological objects was also arrested by Mhamdia’s National Guard units (Ben Arous governorate).

According to the same source, two antique pieces and some fifteen old gold coins were seized during this operation.

The Public prosecutor ordered to place the suspect into custody and to initiate a legal proceeding against him over looting and trafficking in archaeological objects.
