Two members of Katiba "Jund al-Khilafa" placed in custody (Anti-Terrorism Judicial Centre)

(TAP) – The public prosecutor's office at the anti-terrorist judiciary centre, ordered Monday night to place in custody the two terrorist elements arrested, the day before, by the national guards of Kasserine on the heights of the region.

In a statement to TAP, spokesman for the judicial centre, Sofiene Sliti, said that the two individuals were arrested following an proactive operation supervised by the public prosecutor to the centre, in coordination with the National Research Unit for Terrorist Crimes stemming the National Guard of El-Aouina.

"Two Steyr assault rifles, magazines and ammunition were seized from the two individuals belonging to the katiba" Jund al-Khilafa "(the soldiers of the caliphate) who pledged allegiance to the terrorist group Daesh", he added.

According to the investigations, Sofiene Sliti specified, the two terrorist elements are involved in the attack of a patrol of the national army at Mount Mghilla in 2015, during which five soldiers were killed as well as in assassination of a soldier in search operations carried out following this attack.

He added that these two elements are, also, accused of having participated in the beheading of the young shepherd, Mabrouk Soltani, in November 2015, and of his brother as well as the murder of the soldier Said Ghozlani, in November 2016.

In addition, the spokesman of the judicial centre of fight against terrorism indicated that one of the two arrested is the subject of eleven notices of research, while five search warrants are already launched against the second.

Earlier in the day, the Interior Ministry reported that two terrorists were arrested on Sunday night by the Kasserine National Guard units while on the heights of the region.
