(TAP)- The turnout of security and military personnel in the vote for the municipal by-elections in Souk Jedid (Sidi Bouzid) held on Saturday, reached 9.96%, until 2 pm.

Indeed, only 26 security and military officers have gone to the polls since this morning out of a total of 261 registered voters. The voting process ends today at around 4 pm.

According to Boujemaaa Mechi, president of the Independent Regional Electoral Authority (IRIE), one voter committed an electoral offence by taking a photo of his ballot paper in the voting booth. His mobile phone was seized and a complaint was filed against him with the Public Prosecutor's Office.

As for the locals of Souk Jedid, they will have to go to the polls tomorrow, Sunday, to elect the members of the municipal council.

A total of 10 lists including 3 partisans (Ennahdha, Democratic Current, Tahya Tounes) and 7 independents are vying for the 18 seats on the new Souk Jedid municipal Council.

The Souk Jedid City Council was dissolved after the resignation of 11 municipal councillors last February.
