Woman from Kef governorate arrested over suspicion of being involved in irregular migration operations to Europe

(TAP) - A woman from the Kef governorate, northern Tunisia, was arrested on Friday over suspicion of organising irregular migration operations to Europe from the coasts of Zarzis.

According to an Interior Ministry press release Saturday, the woman confessed during interrogation that she had played the role of intermediary for people from Tajerouine for the sum of 7 thousand dinars per person, travelling with them to Zarzis and helping them with an accomplice cross the maritime borders illegally.

A sum of money worth 3,440 dinars, money orders, a savings book and documents attesting to the completion of operations of transfer of sums of money of over 116 thousand dinars were seized in the accused home, according to the ministry.

The accused was taken into custody by decision of the prosecution and indicted for "formation of a group involved in the transport of persons abroad."
