(TAP) - Mayor of Chebba, Mahdia governorate, Houssine Nassri, on Monday, submitted his resignation to the City Council, in response to a request filed by thirteen members for almost a month.

Nasri said in his letter of resignation that thirteen out of a total of twenty-four members of the city council demanded his resignation over absence of dialogue, which hampers work in the council.

Elected in the 2018 municipal elections at the head of an independent list, the mayor added that he resigned to preserve social peace and the general interest.

Thirteen members of the city council of Chebba threatened, on August 22, to submit a collective resignation if the mayor does not quit.
