Monastir: organisation of health caravan with made of 22 specialist doctors and 15 paramedical staff

(TAP) - A health caravan called "Caravan of late Mahmoud Mzali for the protection of health" was organized on Sunday, at the maternal and child protection center in Monastir with the participation of 22 specialist doctors and 15 paramedical executives, as part of the awareness campaigns, organised at the initiative of the regional office of the association Wafa for the safeguarding of the heritage of leader Habib Bourguiba in collaboration with the basic health group in Monastir.

Director of the Regional Office of the Wafa Association for the Safeguarding of the Heritage of Leader Habib Bourguiba Fethi Besbes, told TAP that this caravan included free check-up in different medical specialties, such as cardiology, ophthalmology, blood pressure, rheumatism, and general surgery, in addition to early detection of transmissible diseases and breast cancer.

In this context, awareness-raising workshops were organised on the importance of children's dental hygiene, nutrition and tobacco control, in addition to a play presented by students of the Borj El alam high school to raise awareness of the dangers of tobacco.

"The organisation of this health caravan on October 20 coincides with the date of the creation of the Tunisian flag by Hussein 2 Bey on October 20, 1827," he said.

The director of the regional office of the Wafa association pointed out that other health caravans will be organised next Sunday in Jammel, on November 3, 2019 at the Zéramdine delegation, on November 10, 2019 at the Ouerdanine delegation.

Health caravans were organised for the first time this year in rural areas outside the governorate of monastir and started in January 2019 in the localities of Babouche, Jerissa, Kalaat Jarda, Sakiet Sidi Youssef and Takilsa.
