(TAP) - A workshop dedicated to the presentation of civil society initiatives in support of access to justice in the governorate of Medenine was held Sunday in Djerba.

The meeting is held for the 4th time as part of the project to improve access to justice in the region, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Justice, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The workshop was an opportunity to discuss the initiatives launched by 14 associations in Djerba, Zarzis, Ben Guerdane, Medenine, Sidi Makhlouf and Beni Khedache. The aim is to transform ideas and proposals into concrete projects to be presented by the end of December, when the final presentations on these initiatives will be submitted.

According to UNDP expert Walid Ben Amara, the project to facilitate access to justice in the governorate of Medenine aims to improve the provision of services in judicial and prison institutions and to guarantee access to judicial services for litigants.

The implementation of the project in the governorate of Medenine is part of the implementation of the judicial map in Tunisia, which shows the region's needs in terms of support for the judicial service.
