(TAP)- The “Association Ruche de la Citoyenneté Active à Tozeur,” on Sunday, launched an afforestation campaign to establish bee pastures, through planting 120 forest trees, near the irrigated area of Jhim 2.

This initiative is part of a project to increase bee pastures, particularly in oases. It is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in partnership with the Regional Office for Agricultural Development and the Office of Breeding and Pastures.

Other similar actions will also take place, association president Salem Ben Selma told TAP.

Other beekeeping projects will be funded. They will be dedicated to women living around oases in Tozeur so as to promote diversification of economic activities and preserve biodiversity in the region.
