El Guettar Municipality signs partnership agreement with German city of Böblingen

(TAP) – The municipality of El Guettar, Gafsa, on Tuesday, signed a partnership agreement with the city of Boblingen, (20 kilometres southwest of Stuttgart, Germany).

The agreement provides for bolstering cooperation in the areas of vocational training, language learning, tourism and crafts.

It also includes the construction of a domestic waste sorting centre to reduce toxic waste that harms the environment in the region.

El Guettar mayor Mabrouk Ammar told TAP the agreement will run for two years and may be be extended to three more years.

He added that another agreement has been signed with the National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED) of the Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment.

It aims to support the project of the domestic waste sorting centre in El Guettar, especially in terms of logistics, Ammar said, adding the municipality of El Guettar plans to create a landfill.

The cost of the project of this domestic waste sorting centre is expected to exceed 250 thousand dinars, co-funded by the German Agency for International Co-operation (GIZ).
