23/01/2020 17:52, THELEPTE/Tunisia

(TAP) - The first phase of the project studies for the creation of the free trade zone in Thelepte, stemming from the delegation of Feriana (governorate of Sidi Bouzid), has been completed, TAP learns from the governorate's source.

The site, which is to house the free trade zone, will be chosen from among three proposals put forward, in coordination with the regional directorate of state and land affairs.

The second phase of studies will be launched after the adoption of the project by the cabinet meeting, the same source reports.

The creation of a free trade zone in Thelepte is an old demand of the city's inhabitants, given its importance in protecting the national economy against smuggling and its contribution to the collection of additional tax revenues, as well as to the strengthening of trade between Tunisia and Algeria and the creation of jobs.

The project was announced by former Prime Minister Habib Essid on October 31, 2015 at a cabinet meeting he chaired in Kasserine.
