Study day on redevelopment of southern coast of Sfax city

(TAP) - The redevelopment of the southern coasts of the city of Sfax was the subject of a study day organised, Monday, with the participation of experts and representatives of civil society, concerned structures and municipalities of Sfax and Thyna.

The event provided an opportunity to present studies and projects around the depollution and development of the southern coast of the city of Sfax, which extends over 18 kilometers.

The MedCities network of Mediterranean cities is making its expertise available to help municipalities implement specific strategies for the redevelopment of cities, Joan Parpal, former Secretary-General of the network, stressed on this occasion.

For his part, Representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Tunis, Abdelaziz Chaouachi, gave an overview of the various advantages offered by the bank for the financing of the green economy.

In turn, Wassim Zouari, CEO of the Société d'études et d'aménagement des côtes nord de la ville de Sfax (SEACS), noted the importance of putting in place a good strategy and a clear vision for the redevelopment of the city's southern coasts, noting the importance of cleaning up these coasts within the framework of the TAPARURA project, which deals with the relocation of polluting industrial activities and the urban and tourist redevelopment of the city.
