Jouaouda municipal council: 10 members resign

(TAP)– Ten members of the Jouaouda municipal council (Jendouba) resigned on Friday including the first and the second deputy mayor.

The resigning members justified their resignation, in a letter to the governor of Jendouba, by the absence of communication with the mayor who “decides single-handedly without any consultation with the other members of the municipal council, composed of 18 councillors.”

They regretted the impossibility of working in such conditions and of meeting the expectations of the inhabitants.

Mayor of Jouaouda Houda Hamdi denied all these accusations, saying that several members of the council absented from council meetings for no reason.

Efforts are underway to convince the resigning members to reverse their decision and overcome the disagreements, council members told TAP.
