(TAP)– Sixteen more cases of infection with the coronavirus (COVID-19) were recorded in Medenine governorate, out of 45 tests carried This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 30, said local health director Zaid Al Anz.

Among the infected is an employee of the military health directorate in Medenine and the source of infection has not been identified.

A first death due to the COVID-19 has been recorded in the region; an elderly man died on March 27 at his home.

The deceased had just arrived from abroad; a sample was taken from him a few hours before his death. The test results announced on Monday proved to be positive.

Faced with the upturn in infections, mandatory isolation spaces will be set up in each delegation, especially since the Aghir centre in Djerba is full, said the regional health division.
