(TAP) - The Regional Health Directorate of Médenine announced Friday evening that two cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded among people in sanitary lockdown in Djerba, repatriated on May 18 from Saudi Arabia.

According to an official of basic health in Medenine, Zid El Anz, the number of cases of contamination among the returnees has risen to 7.

These two more cases of contamination among people from Gabes and Sidi Bouzid were confirmed after the second analysis carried out on these people even though they did not show any symptoms during the first analysis.

The two infected persons were transported last night to the specialised sanitary lockdown centre which houses 9 cases carrying the virus and will be transferred to the lockdown centre of Monastir, after coordination with the local authorities.

The epidemiological situation has been stable in the region for 27 days and no case of local contamination has been recorded.

Nine cases are still carrying the virus in the region, which has recorded 62 cures among the 77 cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic.
