COVID-19: more deaths and cases of infection reported

(TAP) – More deaths and cases of infection with the new coronavirus were recorded between Tuesday and Wednesday in several regions of the country.

In the governorate of Kebili, 11 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded after the release of the results of 85 tests conducted on September 14, information officer and head of health programmes at the local health directorate Ali Haddad told TAP.

Among these cases, there are nine from Tenbib (delegation of North Kebili), one from Rabta and one from Tombar.

The number of infected people in the region currently stands at 116.

In the governorate of Bizerte, 19 people tested positive between September 14 and 15, local health director Jameleddine Saidani told TAP.

These new cases are distributed as follows: 5 in Menzel Bourguiba, 3 in Bizerte-North, 6 in Ras Jebel, 2 in Tinja, 2 in El Alia and 1 case detected in Zarzouna.

In addition, tests carried out on a 50-year-old person from Ras Jebel, who died Tuesday in the local hospital of Menzel Bourguiba, showed his infection with the coronavirus, a medical source at the hospital told TAP.

In the governorate of Medenine, a death was recorded in the delegation of Zarzis Tuesday. It is a 46-year-old man, admitted since the beginning of September at the local hospital, deputy director of primary health Zaied Al-Anz told TAP.

In addition, six more people tested positive in the region Tuesday, including five from Djerba Houmt Souk and one from Zarzis.

In the governorate of Kef, 18 new cases of infection have been identified after the release of the results of 101 tests carried out between September 11 and 12, the local health directorate in Kef said in a statement Tuesday.

Therefore, the number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 323 cases since August 14 in the region, according to local health director Tarek Rajhi, including 184 cases detected in the city of Kef.

In the governorate of Kasserine, a first case of death was recorded on Tuesday.

It is a 59-year-old man from Thala, who was admitted to the Abderrahmen Mami hospital in Ariana, local health director Abdelghani Chaabani told TAP.

In the governorate of Gabes, a 90-year-old man suffering from chronic diseases died from the coronavirus, bringing the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the region to 17.

Moreover, eleven more infection cases were discovered, Tuesday. They are distributed as follows: 5 in El Hamma and El Hamma West, 4 in Gabes-city and 2 in Gabes-south.

In the governorate of Jendouba, 25 new more COVID-19 cases were recorded Wednesday, including 17 in Jendouba, 7 in Tabarka and one case in Ghardimaou.
