COVID-19: number of deaths and cases of infection jumps in regions

(TAP) - The number of deaths and infections with COVID-19 continues to jump after more cases are detected between Thursday and Friday in several parts of the country.

In the governorate of Zaghouan, a second death related to COVID-19 was recorded in less than 24 hours. The deceased is an 84 year old man who joins the young man from Zriba who died on Friday morning from the coronavirus.

In the governorate of Tozeur, one woman (37 years old) died on Friday in the intensive care unit of the regional hospital. This is the first death registered in the region, Souad Najii, Director of Preventive Medicine in Tozeur.

In the governorate of Manouba, two deaths (a man and a woman) were counted, said Regional Director of Health, Nabila Kaddour. The number of deaths related to coronavirus has leaped to 9 cases in the region and that of infected people to 173 cases.

In the governorate of Sousse, a 71-year-old pharmacist suffering from the virus died on Thursday, bringing the number of deaths to 16 since the reopening of borders.

In the governorate of Monastir, the emergency department of the Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital recorded, Thursday, the death of a 74-year-old woman from Ksar Hellal. So far, the region has 4 deaths with COVID-19.

Regarding the number of infections, it increased to 724 cases including 220 recorded in Menzel Nour. Faced with this situation, a mobile hospital will be installed on Saturday in the indoor hall of Menzel Nour, said Mayor of the city Sami Belhaj Ameur.

In the governorate of Gabes, 15 more cases of infection have been detected, said Regional Director of Health Riadh Chaouch. The cases are distributed as follows: 6 in El Hamma and El Hamma-Ouest, 3 in Ghannouch, 2 in Gabes Sud, 2 in Gabes City and 2 in Gabes Ouest.
