Gabès-COVID-19 : Two fatalities and 36 more cases of infection

(TAP) - Two deaths by COVID-19 were recorded, Friday, in the governorate of Gabes, bringing to 35 the number of deaths related to the coronavirus since the spread of the epidemic in the region.

The deceased are from Gabes-Sud (a 67-year-old man) and El Hamma (a 62-year-old man), Head of information and Health Programmes at the regional health directorate of Gabes, Souad Yahaoui, told TAP.

In addition, 36 more cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in the region after the publication of the results of 85 tests carried out, added the same source.

The additional cases of infection were discovered in Gabès-Sud (15 cases), Gabès-Ville (9 cases), Gabès-Ouest (6 cases), Mareth (3 cases), El Hamma (2 cases) and Métouia (1 case).

Thus, the total number of infections in the region has reached 2,116 cases of which 341 cases still carry the virus and are native of Gabès-Sud (117 cases), Ghannouch (53 cases) and El Hamma (40 cases).
