57 foreign migrants arrested in Kasserine over attempt to illegally cross Tunisian-Algerian borders

(TAP) - 57 foreign migrants (most of whom are women, children and infants) from Sub-Saharan countries who were attempting to illegally cross the Tunisian-Algerian borders had been arrested on Sunday by the Kasserine and Thala security units some, said Deputy Public Prosecutor to the Kasserine Court of First Instance Chaouki Bouazzi.

The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Kasserine Court of First Instance had ordered that the irregular migrants be tested for COVID-19 and taken to one of the centres in the region to ensure their protection, Bouazzi added in a statement to the media.

Thereafter, he pointed out, their situation will be checked and the investigations and legal proceedings against them will be finalised, in coordination with the Interior Ministry and the embassies of their respective countries.
