(TAP) - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax (CCIS) held Friday, the closing conference of the Medstarts project, initiated by the European program "ENI CBC Med 2014-2020" whose objective is to support the micro-finance of Mediterranean startups.

The conference aims to present the results of the Medstarts project and to expose the synthesis of the common strategy of the Mediterranean microfinance programme carried out in five countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region (Tunisia, Italy, Greece, Palestine and Lebanon).

It was an opportunity to deepen the reflection on the possibility of creating a network of multinational funding for start-ups and innovative companies, according to the organisers, adding that the goal is to launch no less than 75 innovative projects, at a rate of 15 projects per country in order to develop a common strategy at the Mediterranean level based on funding mechanisms.

In this context, 15 young Tunisian entrepreneurs have obtained funding worth 10 thousand euros, as donations, for the implementation of projects in the fields of communication technologies, crafts, cultural development and services.

The funds allocated by the European Union under the cooperation programme "ENI CBC" has exceeded 222 million euros during the 2014-2020 period.
