(TAP) - A five-member terrorist cell was broken up Wednesday in Teboulba, Monastir governorate.

Aged between 26 and 30, the cell members operated between Beni Hassen (Monastir governorate) and Western Kram, a Tunis northern suburb.

According to an Interior Ministry press release, the cell members admitted to being "followers of the Takfiri current" and "to have participated in religious courses in a mosque in western Kram where youth were encouraged to join terrorist groups in hotbeds of tension."

They confessed to "having ties with terrorist elements from western Kram and others who are in conflict zones."

The public prosecutor ordered all members of the cell to be held in custody and to initiate a judicial investigation against them for "belonging to a terrorist group."
