Sfax: bodies of victims of collision between Navy vessel and migrant boat handed over to their families

(TAP) - The bodies of the eight passengers who died on Sunday in the collision of their boat with a Navy vessel off the island of Kerkennah (governorate of Sfax) were handed over to their families on Tuesday.

The bodies of the victims, recovered and transferred to the forensic service of Habib Bourguiba hospital in Sfax, were identified, said director of the hospital Ahmed Mahfoudh.

Among the victims, four from Kebili, two from Kasserine, one from Jendouba and one from Ben Guerdane, added the same source.

The Ministry of National Defence said in a statement a Navy vessel collided with a boat of unknown origin 4 km from El Attaya beach in Kerkennah on Sunday.

Eight people were killed and 38 others injured in the accident.
