Tabarka: increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays

(TAP) - The tourist area of Tabarka (Jendouba governorate) has seen a remarkable improvement in tourist indicators both in terms of number of visitors and overnight stays registered in local hotels in the first nine months of 2017.

During a meeting of the regional tourism council held Thursday at the headquarters of Jendouba governorate, representatives of the sector welcomed the figures recorded, stressing the importance of highlighting the tourist sites of the region and diversify the product.

According to the report presented by the Regional Tourism Commission, more than 170 thousand tourists visited the tourist area of Tabarka until September 30, 2017, up 51% compared to the same period of the year last.

Tourist overnight stays also grew 61%, reaching 373,480 during the same period.

Algerians are at the top of the list of tourists who visited the Tabarka during the first nine months with an occupancy rate of 27%.

Domestic tourism has also increased in terms of overnight stays spent by Tunisians in the tourist units of Tabarka, with an occupancy rate of 67%, said the same report.
