Dhehiba-Wazen border crossing to re-open Thursday (security source)

(TAP) - The Dhehiba-Wazen border crossing in Tataouine, closed on both sides for more than fifteen days, will re-open Thursday, a security source told TAP correspondent in the region.

Freight and passenger traffic at this border crossing has interrupted since Wednesday, November 22, with access only allowed to Tunisian and Libyan travellers returning to their respective countries.

"An agreement has been reached between the Libyan and Tunisian authorities on the reopening of the Dhehiba-Wazen border crossing on both sides," the same source added.

Libyans justify the closure of this border point by the seizure of prohibited goods from young traders from Dhiba, which is denied by Tunisians.

This incident angered the young traders who blocked the road leading to the sand barrier before being cleared by the local authorities.
