(TAP) – Schoolboys and middle and high school students will go back to schools on September 15.

A total of 2,121,000 students will return to school for a 2018-2019 academic year marked in particular by measures for equal opportunities.

The number of students this year has increased by 2% compared to the previous school year.

For this year, students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade (basic education) will no longer have classes on Saturdays.

This measure will be generalised to grades 5 and 6 from next year.

The revision of the school calendar and the reduction of the duration of classes by 7 hours are also among the measures taken for pupils in primary education.

For the first time, a school food bank will be set up to ensure a continuous supply of school canteens in food products.

With regard to infrastructure, nearly 458 schools have been restored so far out of a total of 449 institutions considered in a disastrous situation.

Some 29 new educational institutions will open this year.
