Union of Arab Women Leaders launches University of Mothers project in Manouba

(TAP) – The Union of Arab Women Leaders, Tunisia chapter, announced the launch of the University of Mothers project in the governorate of Manouba.

This pilot experience, initiated in partnership with private universities, municipalities and local and regional administrations, aims to improve the quality of life of rural women, build their capacities and strengthen their societal role.

Mothers who devoted their lives to the education of their children can now receive training under the supervision of volunteer members of academia and mentors. At the end of this training, these women will obtain an honorary university degree, Head of Tunisia chapter Rim Tabii told TAP.

This project is different from the National Adult Education Programme, she added.

An assessment will be conducted to consider undertaking the project in other regions. The training is mainly intended to increase women’s self-confidence which will have a positive impact on their families and environment.

The training, three days per week during nine months, will take place in spaces provided by municipalities or other partners.
