Unemployment rate stabilises at 15.3% in Q2 2019 (INS)

(TAP) - The unemployment rate has stabilised at 15.3% in the second quarter of 2019, compared to the first quarter, according to unemployment indicators in Q2 2019 from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The number of unemployed people is estimated at 634.9 thousand in the second quarter, compared to 637.7 thousand in the first quarter of 2019, indicated the statistics.

The number of unemployed tertiary graduates stood at 253.0 thousand in the second quarter of 2019 against 255.4 thousand in the first quarter of 2019, i.e. a slight decrease of 2.4 thousand.

Thus, the unemployment rate for this group has dropped from 28.2% to 28.0%.

The number of active population stands at 3,527.9 thousand against 3,520.4 thousand in Q1 2019, i.e. an increase of 7.5 thousand. This population is shared out between 2,594.5 thousand men and 933.4 thousand women, said the same source.
