More than 27,000 jobs recorded in H1 2019 (Ministry of Employment)

(TAP) - Some 27,215 job operations were recorded in the first half of 2019, including 25,385 permanent jobs, up 7.2% over the same period of 2018.

According to labor market indicators from the National Employment and Self-Employment Agency, 9,885 employment operations for executives were recorded at the end of June 2019.

According to the same source, 59.5% of the beneficiaries of jobs are women, about 33% are tertiary graduates and 60% are trainees who were integrated at the end of their internship.

Job openings also grew 6.1% (59,553) compared to the first half of 2018, mainly in Ariana and Monastir (+ 35%).

These offers increased particularly in the sectors of tourism (+ 60.6%), administrative services (+ 16.7%) and trade (+ 14.1%).

The unemployment rate was 15.3% (634.9 thousand unemployed) in the second quarter of 2019.

The highest unemployment rates were recorded in the South West (24.8%), particularly in Gafsa, Tozeur and Kebili, in the South East (22.2%), mainly in Gabes, Medenine and Tatouine and in the North West (20.3%), especially in Beja, Jendouba, Le Kef and Siliana.
