National Days of Research Valorisation kick off

(TAP) – Works of the National Days of Research Valorisation (French: JNVR) kicked off on Friday at the Tunis Science City.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Slim Khalbous.

One of the main goals of this edition is to find means to develop the existing research structures (39 research centres, 424 laboratories and 109 research units), Head of the Research Valorisation department at the Higher Education Ministry Samia Charfi said.

The ministry aims to orient the research towards topics related to the Tunisian economy and society, including the digital transition, circular economy, good governance and environment, she added.

The Scientific Research Department aims to improve the conditions and the services for the researchers and collaborative researches through the setting up of research units dedicated to the collaborative approach.

Taking the floor, Director General of the International Co-operation within the Higher Education Ministry Malek Kochlef highlighted the importance of creating international partnerships under the form of bilateral projects.

The goal is to make the most of the developed countries’ innovative experiences in the scientific research field and to create other funding mechanisms for an impacting research.

On this occasion, he presented the different current bilateral projects, with an emphasis on the Tunisian-Japanese project that helped create the Borj Cedria Technopole (Ben Arous governorate), considered as the first destination of researchers with theses on renewable energies, water and environment and plant biotechnology.

The JNVR will last till October 19 with the organisation of two panels on the ecosystem and the research valorisation strategy, and the role of international partners in research valorisation.
