(TAP) – Tunisian General Union of Students (UGTE) sent an open letter to President elect Kais Saied, pointing out the urgency to reform the public higher education system in service of the country's interest, while involving the UGTE in all debates.

The UGTE indicated that urgent solutions should be identified to upgrade the Tunisian public university and refocus its objectives, adding that "the public university is responsible for deep rooting the Tunisian identity, protecting students against the dangers of terrorism and training young optimists who aspire to a better future for themselves and their country.”

The organisation congratulated the President for his "well-deserved" victory in the presidential runoff of October 13, 2019, reiterating its willingness to negotiate with all stakeholders in the higher education reform, which is an absolute priority.
