(TAP) - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Slim Khalbous, and Minister of Cultural Affairs, Mohamed Zine El Abidine, on Wednesday launched the work of the project of the first academy of arts, with the inauguration of the land that will host the premises of this institution, located in the tunis berges du lac.

The Tunis Academy of Arts, under the supervision of the Ministries of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs, will be composed of a Higher Institute of Music with a capacity of 500 seats, a media library with an area of 530 m² that includes spaces dedicated to arts and heritage, an auditorium that covers 600 m² with a capacity of 200 seats.

The media library, as well as the art show space, will be made available to all university institutions, regardless of their specialities, according to a press release published by the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Department of Higher Education will be the first to be responsible for the completion of this project, which has a total cost of 14.6 million dinars and covers a total area of approximately 4,700 m², including 3,600 m² covered, according to the same source.

The project in question is part of the framework agreement signed between the two ministries in September 2018 with the approval of the Ministry of State Properties and Land Affairs. It embodies one of the pillars of university reform, which consists in the creation of multi-component higher education and research institutions designed to facilitate their integration into their local, economic and social environment.
