Minister of Vocational Training Saida Ounissi meets with Chief of Mission IOM Tunisia

(TAP) - Minister of Vocational Training and Employment Saida Ounissi, on Tuesday, met Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia Azzouz Samri.

The meeting discussed ways to “to establish cooperation with the structures and organisations concerned in order to detect available employment opportunities, conclude agreements and set the legal framework organising the employment of Tunisians oversees, stressing that IOM is a major partner in employment and formal migration, Ounissi said at the meeting.

She recalled that the National Employment Strategy includes a whole chapter on employment oversees and labour migration, which targets promoting circular migration (a temporary movement of a migrant worker), strengthening cooperation with host countries through organised migration agreements and promoting comparative advantages for the employment of Tunisians abroad.

Azzouz Samri emphasised the development of cooperation with the Ministry through the establishment of several joint programmes to combat irregular migration.

Cooperation between the Ministry and the IOM Office in Tunisia is based on improving the employability of jobseekers, supporting the creation of small businesses in the north-western and South-Western regions (a programme for Tunisians living abroad) and on organising training sessions of limited duration in Belgium in several specialties (Programme for improving employability with Belgium), he added.

The meeting was attended by a delegate accompanying Azzouz Samri as well as a number of officials from the Ministry of Employment and the National Agency for Employment and Self-Employment (ANETI).
