Parliament Speaker welcomes UNFT proposals (Ghannouchi)

(TAP) – Speaker of the House of the People's Representatives (HPR) Rached Khriji Ghannouchi, on Friday, said that the HPR is ready to open up to proposals of the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) during the examination of bills that concern this organisation, at the level of standing committees including the committee of Women, Family, Children and Elderly Affairs.

During his meeting with UNFT President Radhia Jerbi, the Parliament Speaker was notified of the concerns of the organisation and the difficulties it faces in many areas.

He underlined the privileged status of Tunisian women within the family, society and legislation, expressing commitment to strengthening women’s status and upholding their participation in decision-making positions.

Radhia Jerbi spoke about the financial difficulties of UNFT, calling for the advocating women's presence in various sectors and to further involve them in decision-making.
