Municipality of Tunis joins Healthy Cities Programme

(TAP) - The Municipality of Tunis has joined the Healthy Cities Programme aimed at promoting health through the improvement of environmental, social and economic aspects, it announced Wednesday in a statement.

Under this programme that brings together 70 cities around the world and affects 300 million people, the municipality of Tunis is committed to fight against non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and others, in order to protect the health of future generations.

According to the press release, the Healthy Cities Programme aims to improve the health of populations, the quality of services and health and environmental conditions in cities by raising awareness of health and environmental issues and involving communities and organisations in activities and projects.

The Healthy Cities programme is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies in partnership with the World Health Organisation and Vital Strategies.
