(TAP) – Secretary General of the Tunisain General Labour Union (UGTT) Noureddine Tabboubi threatened on Tuesday with a new revolution to correct the course that has diverted from its position nine years after the Revolution, due to wrong political choices and prevarications that have prevailed after the 2019 presidential and legislative elections.

Speaking to reporters after his speech to a large gathering of trade unionists at the Mohamed Ali Square in Tunis opposite the UGTT headquarters on the 9th anniversary of January 14 Revolution, Tabboubi pointed out that politicians should have steered the country in the right direction except that they are still dependent on political accounts.

He further indicated that the Tunisian people, who had triggered a peaceful revolution, are still committed to the achievement of their demands, calling on the political actors who had enjoyed their voters’ confidence in the last elections, to serve their country and meet their electoral commitments to overcome the difficulties.

Tabboubi said the Tunisian people would like to be told the whole truth about the country's economic and financial situation, knowing that the Tunisian administration is now broken due to the absence of a new government.

In this vein, he added that the UGTT cannot wait any longer and it must meet the expectations of the people and save the country.

Tabboubi voiced wish that the next prime minister would live up to the people's expectations and give them a glimmer of hope.
