"More than 300,000 families added to list of needy families" (Minister of Social Affairs)

(TAP) - More than 300,000 families were recently added to the list of needy and low-income families on the database of the Ministry of Social Affairs to benefit from the exceptional social assistance provided by the government to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

In an interview with TAP, Minister of Social Affairs Habib Kchaou also said

200,000 families who did not meet the criteria were identified on the list, after cross-checking the different internal platforms.

"The families newly added to the list are the result of cross-checking between 12 different databases of several institutions and government structures covering nearly 1 million citizens," he pointed out.

The Minister of Social Affairs, in another context, said the coronavirus crisis has accelerated the digitisation of the Tunisian administration and the adaptation of structures under the ministry to work online and the digitization of their files and services online.

He recalled, in this regard, the online platform "Tunisia Solidaire" which aims to improve and develop services.
