(TAP) – The phenomenon of irregular migration requires analysis and socio-economic treatment, following a comprehensive approach, Caretaker Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh said on Monday.

He was speaking at a with president of the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) Abdelrahman Hedhili at the Kasbah.

Fakhfakh said “young people need to regain trust with the State through programmes and practical measures aimed at lowering the rate of early school dropping.”

“They need to be talked out of rushing to the death boats as a response to marginalisation, poverty and unemployment,” he said.

The meeting focused on major social issues, particularly the rise in irregular migration during the previous period.
