(TAP) – "The Scientific Committee on Fight against Coronavirus will table a proposal Tuesday to the interim Health Minister under which the presentation of a negative RT-PCR test will be mandatory for all travellers to Tunisia, including those from the green zone initially exempt from the measure," Director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases Nissaf Ben Alaya said Monday.

The proposal will be brought forward to the Prime Ministry to take necessary measures. Ben Alaya told TAP. It is relevant as COVID-19 infections from green zone countries were reported.

Nineteen more cases of infection with COVID-19, including twelve domestic, were recorded on August 8, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The overall number of confirmed infections in the country therefore rises to 1,697.

The total number of recoveries is at 1,263. The death toll stands at 51. There are so far 383 active cases which are being followed up, including 13 people hospitalised, the department further said
