(TAP)– The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) sent 16 tonnes of food aid and medical supplies to Lebanon in solidarity with and support to the Lebanese people, following the Beirut blast.

The plane took off Monday morning from the El Aouina military airport.

Secretary General of the UGTT Noureddine Taboubi told reporters the union, after consultations with the Ministry of Defence, decided to dispatch another shipment of emergency relief to Lebanon over the next few days.

Taboubi highlighted the fraternal relations uniting the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers and the UGTT which has always stood alongside the Lebanese people and the Iraqi and Palestinian peoples.

Two military planes carrying about 35 tonnes of emergency medical and humanitarian aid took off to Lebanon last Thursday, on instructions from President Kais Saied.
