"Tunis, Arab Youth Capital 2019" kicked off

(TAP) - Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport Sonia Ben Sheikh on Friday kicked off the "Tunis, Arab Youth Capital 2019” at a ceremony held at the City of Culture and attended by a host of ambassadors, ministers and young people from different Arab states.

The Minister said the initiative emanating from the 42nd Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sport dated April 2019 is a good opportunity to boost Arab joint action and celebrate Arab youth as active partnership in defining and implementing policies.

A a seven-axis programme spanning between June 2019 and April 2020 has been set up between June 2019 and April 2020; it will be implemented in close co-operation with partner ministers, said Ben Sheikh.

This programme will necessarily take into account the provisions of the sectoral strategic vision of youth, she pointed out.

 The first of the events is the Arab Youth Information Symposium, which is being held in Hammamet with the participation of 10 countries (Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, Morocco, Libya, Yemen, Jordan and Tunisia.
