CANA Junior African Championships (open water swimming): Tunisian Khalil Ben Ajmia wins gold medal

(TAP) - Tunisian swimmer Mohamed Khalil Ben Ajmia won the gold medal in the 5km freestyle swimming competition at the 13th CANA Junior African Championships, organised Sunday in Bizerte.

Thirty swimmers, representing 18 African countries, participated in the event.

Egyptian Mohamed Mahmoud won the silver medal and Seychellois Damien Payet won the bronze.

For womens, Tunisian Rihem Ben Slama ranked second (silver), behind the South African swimmer (gold) and ahead of Algerian Henia Krouz and Egyptian Salma Heni (bronze).

The swimming events in open water mark the end of the 13th CANA Junior African Championships organised in Rades on September 11-15.
