(TAP) - The organising committee of the 1st International Rally of Jasmine (February 12-16), intended exclusively for women drivers, announced the participation of several dozen competitors from Tunisia, France, Canada and Algeria. President of the committee, Jamel Dabbabi, said at a press conference Monday in Tunis the departure of the Rally of Jasmines will be signaled in Yasmine Hammamet, while the arrival will be in the city of El Jem through five stages over a distance of 1483 km. The first stage, 350 km long, will link Hammamet to Matmata, the second (208 km) will depart from Matmata-Chnenni to Ksar Ghilène, the 3rd stage (335 km), offers a journey between Ksar Ghilène and Tozeur, the 4th (375 km) will involve Tozeur-Tamaghza and Kairouan and the last spread over 215 km will lead to the starting point Hammamet. President of the Tunisian Automobile Federation (French: FTA), Hichem Ameur, said the Rally of Jasmines will respect the highway code and will set a limit on the speed of the machines in the race. He added that the FTA will include this rally in its annual calendar of competitions. "This rally will add value to Tunisia's cultural and tourist heritage," said Ameur, recalling that motor sports contributed significantly to tourist activity during the COVID pandemic. |
