58 racers of different countries took part in this marathon that took place on Saturday in Tozeur on a variety of trails. British Carl Wickaham-Downes crossed the finish line early Sunday just hours before the award ceremony.

The Ultra mirage El Djerid is organised by the Association Ultra Marathon Tunisia, approved by the two most international organisations: ITRA (International Trail Running Association) and UTMB (Ultra-Trail of Mont Blanc), which certified the route of the race and awarded it the qualification of 4 points on international scales.

By organising the Ultra Mirage El Djerid, organisers intend to place Tunisia on the map of the Ultra-Trail World Tour, an organisation that brings together the world's biggest Ultra Trail races, promote the Djerid region and help launch a new generation of racers specialised in this type of competition.
