Niqab banned in public administrations (Prime Ministry)
05/07/2019 16:33, TUNIS/Tunisia

(TAP) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed Friday signed a government circular that prohibits anyone wearing niqab and with an undisclosed face from access to administrations and public institutions, a Prime Ministry source told TAP.

The ban covers both staff and visitors, the source said, calling the move "unprecedented since the Revolution" without elaborating. The decision comes days after a twin terrorist attack in the capital and reports of terrorists using niqab or full face veil to move about freely.

The ban on niqab has been a source of controversy in Tunisia since the Revolution.
