(TAP) - The United States has granted Tunisia a donation worth $ 335 million (equivalent of 1 billion dinars) to finance projects and programmes designed to boost economic and social development through encouraging entrepreneurship and improving governance.

The donation is part of a US co-operation and support programme for a five-year period (2019-2024).

The relevant agreement was signed by Minister of Development, Investment and International Cooperation Zied Ladhari and Country Director and Senior Development Advisor for US Agency for International Development (USAID)/Tunisia Peter Riley.

Ladhari reiterated the importance of this donation, which will boost entrepreneurship, thereby boosting job creation in Tunisia.

The volume of the donation reflects the depth of the Tunisian-US relations, he pointed out.

The minister also said that USAID's decision to open a larger office in Tunisia aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and support the country on the road to a successful development process.

For his part, Harvey said the US is determined to support Tunisia in various sectors, including those related to democratic transition and economic development.
