(TAP) – Interim President Mohamed Ennaceur met President of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) Nabil Baffoun Wednesday at the Carthage Palace.

The meeting focused on the final preparations for the upcoming legislative and presidential elections and the running of the electoral campaign, Baffoun said.

Ennaceur expressed his concern about the offences recorded so far during this election period, said a statement from the Presidency.

He invited ISIE to enforce the rules of the campaign, to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates and to apply the law in this regard.

He insisted on the need to clean up the political climate during the electoral period and to ensure all the conditions for the smooth running of the electoral process in order to guarantee a massive turnout and to root the foundations of the emerging democracy.

ISIE President extended an invitation to Mohamed Ennaceur to preside, Thursday, over the opening ceremony of the Media Centre of the 2019 presidential and legislative elections at the Tunis Convention Centre.
