(TAP) - The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) will hold a plenary session on October 23 that will see President-elect Kais Saied take the oath of office, HPR Acting Speaker Abdelfattah Mourou said.

This plenary session comes following the examination of the Independent High Authority for the elections (ISIE)’s decision on the final results of the presidential runoff.

Convening on Friday, the Parliament Board further decided to transfer the draft State budget 2020, the draft economic balance and the 2019 complementary Finance Bill to the specialised parliamentary committees.

According to Mourou, the HPR had also decided to hold a plenary session on October 23 after consultation with President-elect Kaies Saied.

The later and Interim President Mohammed Ennaceur will be informed on Friday about this date, the same source added.

The Parliament had called on the President-elect that he is bound to declare his assets before taking office and to make a sworn statement of non-belonging to any party or entity, in accordance with the Constitution, Mourou added.

In a statement to media, the Acting HPR speaker also commended the respect of the constitutional deadlines (the interim President of the Republic must not exceed 90 days in office).

“Former presidents are expected to attend the oath taking ceremony next Wednesday, as well as former prime ministers and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Tunisia.”

As regards the Finance bill and the draft State budget 2020, Mourou pointed out that these bills had been submitted to the HPR within the legal deadlines. “The new MPs have yet to take office; but it is possible that they will entrust a special committee with the examination of the Finance bill and the draft State budget once they took office in November,” he explained.
