Meryam Joobeur's "Brotherhood" nominated for Oscars 2020

(TAP) - The short film "Brotherhood" by Canadian-based Tunisian director Meryam Joobeur has been nominated in the “Best live action short film" at the Oscars 2020.

The organisers of the 92nd edition of the Oscars announced on Monday the complete list of films nominated in the different categories.

The Oscars, will take place on February 9 at Los Angeles's Dolby Theater.

In the “Best live action short film” category, "Brotherhood" is selected along with four other films, "Nefta Football Club" directed Yves Piat, "The Neighbors' Window" by Marshall Curry, "Saria" by Bryan Buckley and Matt Lefebvre and "A Sister" directed Delphine Girard.

Brotherhood ", is a 25-minute fiction co-produced by " Cinétéléfilms " and "Midi la Nuit".

Based on the portrait of a family in the Tunisian countryside, the director tackles religious radicalism among fighters of ISIS in Syria.
