(TAP)-Prime Minister-designate Elyes Fakhfakh promised on Wednesday a project of "deep" reform to put the country back on the rails of economic and social stability. "This reform project should be an important milestone on the path of building Tunisia of tomorrow," Fakhfakh pointed out during a plenary session of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) devoted to the vote of confidence in the proposed government. He said it is a pact that brings together Tunisians of all political sensitivities around an "ambitious" project to restore confidence among the population and to nourish hope among youths. "It is necessary to restore hope to Tunisians," he pleaded, reaffirming his government's commitment to meet all the conditions for the success of this pact and its implementation. For Fakhfakh, the proposed government is not afraid of challenges. No effort will be spared to put Tunisia's best interests first, he promised. Composed of men and women, the new government team is "homogeneous and coherent," hence capable of meeting the expectations and aspirations of the people, he estimated. The government of Elyes Fakhfakh counts 30 ministers and 2 secretaries of State, including 6 women. For the first time since independence, a woman has been appointed Minister of Justice, a ministry of sovereignty par excellence, he said. For the coming period, we will endeavour to increase women’s representation in decision-making positions, he promised. The proposed cabinet includes leading politicians, activists, human rights defenders and independents. They have been chosen according to the highest standards of competence, integrity and cleanliness of hands, which will undoubtedly create a group dynamic within the government and make its actions more effective. |
