COVID-19: One more infection case recorded in Tunisia on May 19, tally up to 1,044

(TAP) - A one more COVID-19 infection case was recorded on Tuesday out of 869 conducted screening tests, bringing the overall number of infection cases to 1,044 since the start of the pandemic, the Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

A new death caused by COVID-19 was recorded in Kebili governorate, bringing the number of deaths to 47 since the start of the pandemic in the country, a Health Ministry press release reads.

According to the ministry's daily tally, the number of patients infected with COVID-19 is on decline (currently 171), while the number of recoveries rose to 826.

The number of screening tests conducted since the start of the pandemic stands at 42,489.

Here follows the number of infection cases in each governorate:

Tunis (233), Ariana (99), Ben Arous (97), Manouba (40), Nabeul (15), Zaghouan (3), Bizerte (26), Beja (4), Le Kef (8), Jendouba (1), Siliana (4), Sousse (84), Monastir (41), Mahdia (18), Sfax (37), Kairouan (8), Kasserine (9), Sidi Bouzid (8), Gabes (23), Médenine (90), Tataouine (36), Gafsa (47), Tozeur (5) and Kébili (108).

The 47 deaths are spread as follow:

Sfax (5), Sousse (7), Ariana (5), Le Kef (1), Mahdia (2), Tataouine (1), Bizerte (1), Tunis (8), Médenine (5), Manouba (5), Sidi Bouzid (1), Nabeul (1), Ben Arous (4), Bizerte (1), Kébili (1).

The ministry called on the citizens to fully respect the law and measures adopted to this end, notably hosting patients with COVID-19 in hospitals or accommodation centres prepared to this end.
